GRS pushes unprecedented KDM unity in Ranau – Masidi

KUNDASANG: In a strong pre-election message, Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) secretary-general Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun said that Kundasang, Karanaan and Paginatan are now working together as a single political bloc, a rare demonstration of KDM unity that he says could redefine Ranau’s political landscape.

Speaking at the ‘Untukmu Kundasang’ programme at SF Kitchen on Monday, Masidi said his presence in Kundasang, despite contesting in Karanaan, was a deliberate signal that GRS is moving beyond traditional boundaries.

“We come from different parties and different DUNs, but in GRS we are one. That is why I am here. We support each other to win,” he said.

Masidi added that he was not only supporting Datuk Seri Joachim Gunsalam in Kundasang but was also tasked with strengthening GRS efforts in neighbouring Paginatan, forming what he described as a closely coordinated “tri-DUN front”.

He said this approach is more than just political strategy; it is meant to demonstrate to Sabahans that unity among KDM leaders in GRS is real and not just rhetoric.

“Many parties claim to represent the KDM community. Here in GRS, across Kundasang, Karanaan and Paginatan, we want to show we are truly united. We share the same community, the same purpose, and we want this unity to translate into victory,” he said.

Masidi emphasised that Ranau’s progress depends on cooperation across constituencies, noting that developments in one area inevitably affect the others.

“What happens in one DUN affects another. That is why we must move together. When leaders cooperate, Ranau as a whole moves forward,” he added.

He said a clean sweep by GRS across the three KDM-majority seats would send a strong message across Sabah.

“If we can show this unity here, it becomes an example for other areas and shows that cooperation strengthens stability,” he said.

With Datuk Seri Joachim beside him, Masidi concluded the session with a confident prediction. “Yes, I believe he will win,” he said.
