reNIKOLA and B.Grimm Power interested to develop power plant for SOGIP

KOTA KINABALU: If everything goes well, Sipitang Oil and Gas Industrial Park (SOGIP) will have its own power plant to spur industries within its territory.

Planning to jump start with work as early as possible, reNikola Holdings managing director Adel Boumhidi said the first two months will be dedicated to feasibility study, including doing the framework and designing, as well as learning the needs of their potential clients.

Speaking after a recent visit to SOGIP in Sipitang with partner B-GrimmPower, a leading power producer in Thailand, Boumhidi said they saw potential in investing into the energy sector in SOGIP, which is the basic need of an industrial park.

“We were told that one of the clients there is producing its own energy source, but this does not make sense. It would be more efficient and cost effective to have a power plant for all,” he explained.

He added that with B.Grimm Power’s reputation as one of South East Asia’s largest industrial park power producer and distributor, with 14 Industrial parks in its portfolio, and reNIKOLA vast experience in renewable energy, it would serve SOGIP well.

“Both reNIKOLA and B.Grimm Power have the experience and capability to undertake the project. Construction will begin in the next two years, or sooner, depending on the completion of the feasibility study,” said Boumhidi.
