KOTA KINABALU: A remarkable 771 bags of blood were donated during a two-day blood donation campaign, reflecting the community’s strong commitment to saving lives.
It was noted that one bag of blood can save up to three lives—highlighting just how impactful blood donation can be.
The blood donation campaign, called “Blood Hero 7.0”, was held from April 26 to 27 at the Sabah International Convention Centre (SICC).
It was jointly organised by Che Hor Khor Sabah Moral Education and the Entrepreneur Education Association (EEA).
The main objective of the campaign was to help replenish hospital blood banks, which require regular replenishment to ensure a sufficient supply for transfusions.
The success of the event was made possible through collaboration with medical teams from Queen Elizabeth Hospital II, Likas Women and Children’s Hospital, and Kudat Hospital.
Organising Committee Chairman Teng Chong Fui expressed his heartfelt gratitude to all who supported the campaign, including 59 volunteers who helped the event run smoothly.
“The event coincided with a Food Fair held at SICC, drawing large crowds,” he said.
“Thanks to the dedicated efforts of the volunteer team on-site, a total of 1,079 people of various ethnic backgrounds enthusiastically registered and participated in blood donation.”
He added that the comfortable and spacious venue also contributed to the high turnout and thanked SICC Chief Executive Officer Datuk Rosmawati Lasuki for the full support.
Certified Vision Screener Jazmes Wong and Pastor Paul Chong were also present to conduct eye pressure screenings and donated glaucoma glasses to patients in need.
Following the success of Blood Hero 7.0, the organisers look forward to an even greater response for Blood Hero 8.0.
